For centuries the prophecies of Nostradamus have been a part of the historical record. Some of Nostradamus predictions include: World War II, Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Katrina, Sep. 11, 200, etc. A recently discovered book of Nostradamus, or the lost book of Nostradamus, reveals drawings that may have clues of what will happened on Dec. 21, 2012. These drawings give us warnings about what might happen in the future. According to Nostradamus, on Dec. 21, 2009 the Sun will align with the center of the Milky Way galaxy in a rare astronomical phenomenon. This phenomenon only occurs once every 26-thousand years and it is called the galactic alignment. Our view of the stars changes over time because the Earth is rotating. " The world feels like we are approaching some kind of a passage. I think what is at the root of this, is the galactic alignment," said John Jenkins, author of Maya Cosmogenesis 2012. " The Mayas were famous for their grasp in astronomy. Like the Maya and other cultures before that, Nostradamus looked at the stars and saw danger," said Jenkins. In his quatrain 5:98, Nostradamus writes: at a latitude of 48 degrees at the end of Cancer. There is a very great drought. Fish in the sea, river and lake boiled hectic from fire in the sky. Nostradamus is pointing out that there are going to be three eclipses in 2012, a total eclipse of the Sun, eclipse of Venus against the Sun, and the eclipse of the Sun in the center of the galaxy. " Nobody in the 1600 knew that we had a galaxy, especially that it was a spiral galaxy and yet the lost book shows the image of the spiral galaxy which is the Milky Way," said Joseph Jochmans, a Maya scholar.
In one of the final drawings in the lost book of Nostradamus, Nostradamus is looking at the book of life, underneath the book are three women, the three fates. The Greeks had a myth that the three women were the ones weaving time and destiny. Scholars believe that Nostradamus is trying to tell people we have a choice, and this choice will determine our fate in the future. In the final drawing there are only two fates, and the wheel of time does not have any more spokes which means it will fall off. The third aspect in the drawing is that the book of life is empty. The book of life is a symbol from the Bible. Some scholars believe the Bible holds a coded message about our future.
In 1994, three Israeli mathematicians discovered number patterns that American author Michael Drosnin uses to pin point what he believes is a direct biblical reference to the end date of the Mayan calendar. Drosin laid out all the characters of the particular portion of the Bible, and the fact that the world ends in 2012 did cross.
All Nostradamus, the Mayans, and the Egyptians did is warn us about what is coming in the future. It is up to human beings what our destiny is going to be. The empty book of life in the last drawing might mean that this is a new beginning. Perhaps, the end of the world is not coming.

I think this is an interesting topic, but I don't really like to talk about it because it makes me nervous. I hear a lot about it -- I think there is a movie coming out about it soon if I'm not mistaken. Think it's coming out next month. I am not sure if I believe the prophecy, but I must to some extest because it makes me nervous to think about like I said. Supposedly the Mayans were able to predict a lot of things that later came true, but I am not impressed by "I predicted this that already happened". Maybe if there was something else predicted by the Mayans that had not yet happened besides the end of the world, then I might be more apt to believe it. Isn't it just that the Mayan calendar stopped on that date? Maybe they just didn't feel like making any more calendars, aha. But it's mostly Western interpretation that has led to the hullaballoo about the world ending. I think if there was some kind of impending disaster, scientists would be able to see it by now, 3 years away from when its supposed to happen. Technology is incredible.
I think the part that upsets me the most about it is it's right around my birthday, and everyone will be too caught up in the apocalypse to sing happy birthday to me :(
This makes me nervous to think about what will happen in three years. Growing up there have always been rumors about "the end of the world" and real life prophecies. The thought has always been in the back of my mind; when will the time come and how will it occur?
Nostradamus concealed the most recent incident which was Hurricane Katrina. I find it interesting when the final drawing in the book of life is empty; a symbol from the bible. This intrigues me to open up an old bible and begin to read and follow it more often. Also, it reminds me to not take things for granite in my life; but to appreciate it and live life to the fullest.
I have read many books on Nostradamus and watched pieces on this theory on tv, and it is impressive how much of the predictions have come true. I am skeptical of these one though because many of his predictions are left up to interpretation. The Hitler one, and I forget the other leader he mentions, are very vague and leave it up to historians to interpret what he could have meant.
I'm not big on conspiracy theories, or cult phenomenons like these. Researchers now say that the calender of the Mayans may be as much as 1000 years off. Maybe this is my own fear of death, but I refuse to believe that the lost civilization could be so right.
I think that too many people see what they want to in The Bible as well. If you search "The Bible + Obama" on google, you'll see people who can find any words and messages they want to in the sacred scripts. People worry so much about the future that they let it consume them instead of living now.
I do see your point in the last paragraph of your blog. With global warming (to those who think it exists), pollution, constantly effecting our environment, and war, we do have a say in what the future holds. We all have choices on what's in store for the next generation. I think that if we go out a make a change for the better it will influence others to do the same. Even if 2012 is not the year, our world could very well change if we don't make a stand to improve our planet.
Stan, the bad news is that this might happen. The good news is that this might not happen. I choose hope, because the alternative is too terrifying.
The 2012 issue escaped my notice until about a month ago. I have to do a lot more reading and questioning before I can form an opinion.
I bet the survivalists are going nuts.
For years, survivalists have been planning for catastrophes. Here's an example: http://www.survivalist.info/ but there are many more examples.
I went on the survivalist website, and they had some hot issues on there. The major one right now was the H1N1 vaccine. They have so much information, and most of it is about how negative the vaccine is. I found the website pretty interesting. Thank you for sharing it. On the other hand, hope is what I am going for on the 2012 issue.
